Seeking Sister Wife viewers believe some of Roberta’s recent actions are proof that she is no longer in a polygamous relationship with Garrick and Dannielle Merrifield.
Dannielle and Garrick, one of the polygamous couples to appear on Season 4 of Seeking Sister Wife, have been dating Roberta with the hopes of her becoming Garrick’s second wife and Dannielle’s sister wife.
The distance between them – Garrick and Dannielle live in Colorado and Roberta hails from Brazil – has been a deterrent in getting Roberta to America, as have health issues and the coronavirus pandemic.
During last week’s episode of Seeking Sister Wife, Dannielle and Garrick flew to Brazil to meet with Roberta in the hopes that she would agree to purchase a plane ticket to return to the U.S. with them.
At the end of the episode, the preview showed Roberta expressing her reluctance to join the Merrifields since they began dating another woman, Lea Newton, while they awaited her arrival.
Now, some Seeking Sister Wife sleuths seem to think that Roberta has decided to walk away from plural marriage and took to Reddit where they discussed some possible clues.
Seeking Sister Wife viewers share clues that Roberta may have left Dannielle and Garrick Merrifield
The Reddit post was captioned, “roberta doesn’t follow either of the merrifields but follows this account ? just found it interesting” and included a screenshot of Roberta’s Instagram. The screenshot showed that Roberta follows the Lifetime show Escaping Polygamy which documents the stories of women breaking free from polygamy after being born or forced into the lifestyle.
Other Seeking Sister Wife viewers took to the comments where they shared their two cents.
One Redditor surmised, “I think she’s fake and stirring up drama for future seasons…..but in the case she’s not, escaping the brainwashing and mindset of polygamy is also a thing. You don’t have to be in the same country to be brainwashed.”
Another Seeking Sister Wife viewer offered up the idea that TLC’s producers ask the cast to follow and/or unfollow certain accounts to boost ratings: “I think producers ask cast members to follow and unfollow certain accounts to raise speculation.”
Another Seeking Sister Wife viewer echoed the sentiment, commenting, “Honestly, Bert and the Merrifields’ socials have been so all over the place that part of me thinks that it’s a tactic to keep interest up and make sure they stay on tv.”
“It’s possible Roberta saw a really dark side of Garrick and Dannielle when she broke up with them (if the gossip is true),” wrote another Redditor with a possible explanation. “I could see them being nasty to her and reminding her of how much money they spent on her.”
Are Garrick and Dannielle keeping mum about Roberta due to network restrictions?
Perhaps the theory about following and unfollowing certain accounts on social media has some validity to it.
Earlier this year, Dannielle teased her Instagram followers during a Q&A when she was elusive about her and Garrick’s relationship with Roberta, telling them, “So right now unfortunately I still can’t tell details about Roberta and all of that, but at least you know for now that Garrick and I are still together.”
However, as early as June 24, Garrick implied that he had multiple wives when he referred to Dannielle as “one of” his queens.
