Viewers of 90 Day Fiance were introduced to Kalani Fagaata and her then-fiance Asuelu Pulaa in Season 6. The couple met when Kalani — who was raised in California — was visiting Samoa, her father’s birthplace. Asuelu’s charm and naiveté captured hearts and he quickly became a fan favorite.
Asuelu was undeniably adorable. He performed a traditional Samoan dance for Kalani at the airport, was amazed by a grocery store, and got nervous around his future father-in-law. His playful personality was perfect for TV and viewers absolutely loved him.
Kalani and Asuelu did end up married at the end of their season, but that wasn’t all. They also moved from California to Utah and had a second baby on the way!
It was a lot of changes for a fairly new relationship, but, so far, the couple seems to still be happily married.
Since the end of Season 6, Kalani has given birth to the couple’s second child — a boy named Kennedy — and Kalani and Asuelu have become regulars on 90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk.
The two couples meet
Recently, Kalani and Asuelu met up with another TLC reality couple — Sister Wives’ Kody and Robyn Brown. Kalani posted a photo of the four (plus baby Kennedy) to Instagram yesterday.
“Ninety Day Sister Wives?” Kalani captioned the photo, “Sister Fiances? I don’t know what we’d call our spin off, but I know it’d be fire!”
Kalani seemed to allude to the meeting being a chance encounter. “What are the odds that we’d all be brunching at the same place?” she wondered. However, she closed out the post with a call for viewers to tune in to both shows, so perhaps it was less of a chance encounter than anything else.
It’s unclear where the photo was taken, and Kalani didn’t add a location. According to Asuelu’s Instagram, the Pulaa-Faagata family is vacationing in Zion National Park, not too far from Las Vegas, Flagstaff, and St. George, UT — all of which are locations the Brown family is known to frequent.
The crossover
Kalani’s caption about a 90 Day-Sister Wives crossover was a joke, but it’s not all that out there. TLC did air a show called Seeking Sister Wife about polygamist couples looking to add wives to their families. If you add in an international twist, Kalani may be on to something. Sister Fiances — possibly TLC’s next big hit.
90 Day Fiance airs on Sundays at 8/7c and Sister Wives airs on Sundays at 10/9c on TLC.
