On the latest episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, Mike Sorrentino managed to pull off the perfect proposal for now-fiance Lauren Pesce.
Mike made it clear that he wanted to get that out of the way before he heads back to court for sentencing and possibly even prison time. What did the Jersey Shore star do and what kind of sentence is he looking at?
Mike Sorrentino pleaded guilty to tax evasion back in January. The Jersey Shore star still hasn’t been sentenced for his crime. He’s looking at up to five years in federal prison as a part of that plea deal, a situation that Mike says he’s at peace with.
As far as the date of Mike from Jersey Shore’s sentencing, it’s been pushed back a few times. The Situation was slated to learn his fate on April 25 but managed to have the date delayed to August 18.
Don’t expect to see Mike in court in August though because he already filed for and was granted another extension. Due to a previously-planned family vacation, a judge granted Mike Sorrentino another delay, moving his new sentencing date to September 7.
Some believe that this extension was actually due to the filming of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. Season 2 of the rebooted MTV hit is happening in Las Vegas.
Mike isn’t the only Sorrentino that got in trouble for the tax scheme that got him into this mess. His brother Marc Sorrentino is also in hot water. He has been accused of “aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return”. That could land Marc in prison for up to three years and could still cost them both $250,000 in fines.
With Lauren Pesce by his side, Mike Sorrentino doesn’t seem too bothered with his tax evasion conviction. Jersey Shore fans are hoping that he doesn’t get too much time behind bars. After all, we’re definitely looking forward to watching more than two seasons of the cast as they reunite for “vacation” in various cities.
Jersey Shore Family Vacation airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on MTV.
