Ryan Edwards has been a staple on MTV’s Teen Mom OG since the beginning. After last year’s revelation that he was addicted to drugs, things have been complicated between him and his son’s mother, Maci Bookout.
Teen Mom OG has announced several changes moving forward. Farrah Abraham was released from the show. Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer confirmed that they are no longer filming with MTV.
This news was shocking, especially since they were allowed to film when he returned home from rehab last year after catching just how out of control he was on camera.
This decision reportedly happened last week. Mackenzie Standifer confirmed that up until then, MTV was paying for her prenatal care and attending doctor appointments. Now, they have decided to change things and will no longer be having them as part of the Teen Mom OG team.
Both Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer decided that they will not film in the future should the opportunity arise. The Teen Mom OG people wanted their baby to be filmed with Ryan’s parents in order remain on the show. Edwards and Standifer decided against that, especially because up until a few days ago, they were still filming.
It looks like both Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer believe Maci Bookout is behind this. They said that she reportedly told production she will not film if Ryan doesn’t check back into a rehab facility again. Edwards hasn’t talked much about his sobriety but speculation is that he may not have remained clean for the entire year.
MTV decided they no longer wanted to support or film Ryan Edwards according to what he is saying. Mackenzie Standifer echoed the same story as well. After filming with him last year and catching all of the footage they did, this is somewhat of a shock to viewers.
Moving forward, Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer will no longer be on MTV. It is unclear whether or not the previously shot footage will be shown or if the new season will be shown without them in it at all.
Teen Mom OG airs Monday nights at 9/8c on MTV.
