Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald says Jason Oppenheim is “madly in love” with Chrishell Stause despite their breakup.
Jason and Chrishell shocked Selling Sunset fans when they announced their split in December after a few months of dating. They seemed to have found their love match in each other; something fans were excited to see for Chrishell, following her heartbreaking divorce from Justin Hartley.
However, life goals caused Chrishell and Jason to go their separate ways. They want different things when it comes to having a family. Chrishell has been vocal regarding her desire to have children. On the other hand, Jason doesn’t see kids in his future.
They remain friends, just like Jason did when his relationship with Mary went bust.

It turns out Selling Sunset fans weren’t the only ones saddened by Jason and Chrishell’s breakup. Mary and her husband, Romain Bonnet, were also surprised their friends had stopped dating.
“I was surprised. It’s sad because I love them together,” Mary said in an interview with Us Weekly, which she did alongside her husband.
Although they are no longer together, Jason’s love for Chrishell has not diminished in any way.
“He still loves her. He’s madly in love with her,” Mary shared.
Romain agreed that Jason has been, and still is, madly in love with Chrishell.
Mary and Romain defend Jason amid Chrishell split
The bond between Mary, Romain, and Jason remains tight following his split from Chrishell. Yes, the couple is still friends with Chrishell too. However, Mary and Jason go way back, which is one reason she defended him when speaking to Us Weekly.
Mary revealed Jason was thinking about having kids with Chrishell. If Jason was going to start a family, it would be with her. Jason even looked into the freezing process to keep his options open.
“I think he was trying to make sure, like, that he had an option if he was able to get himself on board with it. But he just realized it’s not for him,” Mary expressed. “I think, at the end of the day, he didn’t feel it was right. But they’re mutually OK with it. They’re still really good friends. And I think they would wish it would’ve worked out because they both love each other very, very much, but they just want different things as far as a family life.”
Season 5 of Selling Sunset will feature Jason and Chrishell’s relationship. Based on the filming timeline, Selling Sunset fans should see them get together and break up.
