If you have a pool, you will want to learn about Swimply. Swimply is an app that will be featured tonight on Shark Tank. It was created by 22-year-old Bunim Laskin.
Many websites are comparing Swimply to Airbnb. However, instead of renting out a home, you would rent out your swimming pool.
Bunim said he got the idea when he was a kid. At the time, one of his neighbors put in a swimming pool. Bunim and his 11 brothers and sisters jumped at the idea of swimming in it!
However, they didn’t want to take advantage of the neighbor, especially with so many kids. They asked their neighbor if they could pay 25 percent of the maintenance expenses of the pool. This way, they could use the pool without feeling too guilty.
Swimply’s founder got the idea as a kid
This sparked an idea in Bunim’s mind. He began to ask other pool owners if they would be willing to rent out pool time in exchange for money for the pool’s expenses. Many people were interested in the idea, so he decided to create an app and website, very similar to Airbnb.
The app is similar to Airbnb because you can become a host and rent out your pool or rent someone else’s pool. If you become a host, you can use the money to pay for your pool’s expenses. It can also become a great side hustle if you want to make a little extra cash.
Currently, Swimply is offered in the United States and Australia. Swimply charges a booking fee from the renter and 15 percent from the host. Many of the rentals cost around $40 per hour. However, extremely nice or large pools can cost upwards of $300 per hour.
To rent a pool, both the renter and the host must sign a waiver. Swimply is hoping to add an insurance offering soon to cover any liability in case of damages or injuries.
Bunim says there are over 2,000 pools to rent in his app and there have been over 17,000 rentals.
How can you use it?

For many pool owners, this could help with the high costs of owning a pool by renting it out a few times a month. For those without a pool on hot days, this is an incredible idea.
What do you think? It sure seems like a great idea, especially with summer quickly approaching! But, will the Sharks like it? We will find out tonight!
