The Bachelor lead, Matt James, claims he is “not okay” in the finale of Season 25.
In a clip for The Bachelor season-ender, Matt mused about the future he would have with one of his three female finalists: Rachael Kirkconnell, Michelle Young, and Bri Springs.
“I am about to make one of the most important decisions of my life. To find love, to find a wife. To leave here engaged,” Matt explained in a video promo.
The clip featured Matt as he brought two women to meet his mother Patty and his brother John.
“My brother and my mom, they know me better than anybody. They would not want me to make the same mistakes that my dad made,” he shared.
Manny James, Matt’s dad, arrived at Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania to talk to his son during the Monday, March 8, episode of the ABC series. It wasn’t long before things got tense between the two men when Matt confronted his dad about cheating on his mother.
“It had to get to this point. Whatever I can do to make it better, I’ll work on it. I want you to be happy… I want you to have a relationship that’s healthy and not what I went through,” said Manny as reported by Us Magazine.
The women meet Matt’s mom
Matt was hopeful his mother would like the women he was serious about. He valued her opinion.
Rachael told Patty that every time she sees her son, her heart starts racing.
“I really do picture a future with him,” she admitted.
Michelle told Patty that she was looking for the type of love she shared with Matt for a long time. This admission brought her to tears, causing Matt’s mom to give her a hug.
But, love isn’t everything
Patty later told her son that love was not the be-all, end-all of a relationship.
“Hearing everything that my mom has been through, it takes me to a very dark place,” Matt says in a voice-over as he cried in front of the camera.
Bachelor host Chris Harrison sat down next to the show’s star and asked him if he was okay. Matt replied he was not.
Chris asked the show lead if he thought he could “do this anymore?”
“To be honest with you, I don’t know, Chris,” Matt replied before saying that everything he thought he was working towards was starting to crumble.
The clip closed with Michelle and Rachael in tears after Matt appeared to rebuff them.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
