Christine Brown was the only one of Kody Brown’s four wives who purchased her home right away when the family moved to Flagstaff, and it has Sister Wives fans wondering why.
Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, picked up and moved their large family from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2018.
Kody Brown and his family are no strangers to moving
The Browns are no strangers to moving their large brood, as they relocated from Lehi, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada during the first season of the show.
At the time, polygamy was still a felony in the state of Utah, and the Browns were under investigation, forcing them to move out of state.
Now, the large family has settled in Flagstaff, Arizona, with each of Kody’s four wives living separately in their own homes with their respective children.
The family purchased several acres and parcels of land in Flagstaff on Coyote Pass, where they intended to eventually build their dream home, or homes.
Kody’s wives couldn’t agree on a shared home so now they live separately
Kody has pushed for his family to return to living under the same roof, like they did in Lehi, Utah. But his wives have pushed back, particularly Christine.
When they arrived in Flagstaff, each of Kody’s wives struggled to find homes large enough to accommodate their large families.
Kody’s first wife, Meri, found herself a rental and began moving in, only to move out and into another rental after the landlord received complaints about their plural lifestyle.
Kody’s second wife, Janelle, settled into a rancher with her three kids still living at home. But she’s now on the hunt for a new home, as her rental was listed for sale by the owner and quickly got a buyer’s offer.
Kody’s fourth wife Robyn was not on board with Kody’s decision to buy their sprawling, five-bedroom home on 4 acres. Robyn was insistent they rent, for fear they would hold up building on Coyote Pass as a family.
Kody eventually got his way, and he and Robyn moved their five shared children into the $890,000 home.
Christine was the only wife to purchase her home without renting first
Kody’s third wife, Christine, however, was the only of his four wives to purchase a home without renting at all.
Instead, she purchased a three-bedroom, three-bath home on two acres, just one mile from Coyote Pass.
Sister Wives fans are curious why Christine was the only wife not to rent a home in Flagstaff
Some Sister Wives fans took to Reddit to discuss why Christine would have chosen to purchase a home rather than rent like her sister wives.
One Reddit user hypothesized that Christine didn’t want to have to keep moving over and over again, and just wanted stability until when, and if, the family builds on Coyote Pass.
“Maybe she didn’t want to be strong armed into some insane living situation or jumping from rental to rental,” the fan commented.
One fan of the show thought Christine was smart in her decision and realized that the family would be waiting years before breaking ground on their property.
“They thought they would build on CP immediately and wouldn’t need the rentals for long. She was the only one smart enough to realize it wouldn’t happen that fast,” said the Reddit user.
Did purchasing her home give Christine more freedom from Kody?
One Sister Wives fan felt that Christine’s decision was based on her relationship status with her husband, Kody.
“Because she’s not dumb. She knew her and Kody were headed towards divorce, he mentioned biggie housie and she made up her mind she’d leave him if he pushed for that,” they commented.
Christine brought her and Kody’s marriage struggles to the forefront this season. Christine’s staunch resistance to living in one home put a snag in her and Kody’s marriage.
It’s not secret that Christine wants to move back to Utah. Judging by Kody’s absence on her social media lately, it’s looking more like a possibility every day.
Sister Wives is currently on hiatus.
