Here’s one for all you tech geeks out there — Science Channel’s new tech series DRONED starts tonight.
Created by LA-based Reckognition Productions, the show focuses on the very latest in aerial footage and drone technology.
It follows the team behind Pigeon Vision, a store in Fort Lauderdale who are at the top of their game when it comes to the frontier of drones and what they can do.
They include drone pilot Dani, above, technician Roger, co-owner Ryan and marketing chief Darren.
The first series features ten episodes with filming done in the US, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and Barbados.
It will also feature a string of famous faces from Too Close to Home creator Tyler Perry to former F1 driver and Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya and former NFL star Ryan Hoag.
First up tonight at 6pm, in an episode titled Water World, the team head out to sea with Ft. Lauderdale’s Marine Search & Rescue Department to see how drones can be used to rescue people stranded out at sea.
They also create a drone that can be piloted from a long way away and be used to track deep-water fish like Marlin.
That’s followed by a second episode at 6.30pm called Silicon Beach — where the Pigeon Vision team head to LA to film a fast and frantic chase scene with parkour legends Jesse La Flair, Cory DeMeyers and Marcus Gustafsson.
They also find a way to help a racing sail yacht crew to up their game, and check out a game developer at the forefront of VR.
Watch a preview from Reckognition Productions below which shows Pigeon Vision’s Dani checking out FPV goggles at a drone track.
DRONED airs Fridays at 6pm and 6.30pm on Science Channel.
