Sherlock: Season Three to Blu-ray and DVD

Featuring “behind-the-scenes” bonus material, Sherlock: Season Three arrives on Blu-ray and DVD February 11th from BBC Home Entertainment.

It’s been nearly two years since Sherlock Holmes seemingly fell to his death in the epic second season finale of Sherlock, and since then all anyone has wanted to know is: how did he survive? The question is finally answered when London’s greatest consulting detective returns in Sherlock: Season Three.

The third season of Sherlock premieres in the US on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS on January 19th. Earlier this month, the season premiere was watched by 9.2 million viewers on BBC One in the UK, making it the most-watched episode of Sherlock ever.

Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch, Star Trek: Into Darkness, 12 Years a Slave) and Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman, The Hobbit, The World’s End) reteam in three brand new action-packed adventures of the Emmy®-nominated series that USA Today called “TV pleasure at its most intense…”

Synopsis: So… how did Sherlock do it? And how will John take the news that his best friend faked his own death? The first episode of this new series, “The Empty Hearse,” picks up two years after the devastating effects of The Reichenbach Fall. Dr. John Watson has got on with his life – a new job, a new romance and a comforting domestic future beckon. But with London under threat of a huge terrorist attack, Sherlock Holmes is about to rise from the grave with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. It’s what Watson wanted more than anything, but if Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it, he’s in for a very big surprise…

In the second episode, The Sign of Three, Sherlock faces his biggest challenge of all – delivering a Best Man’s speech on John’s wedding day. But all isn’t quite as it seems – mortal danger stalks the reception, and someone might not make it to the happy couple’s first dance.

And in the final episode of this new series, His Last Vow, a case of stolen letters leads Sherlock Holmes into a long conflict with Charles Augustus Magnussen, the Napoleon of blackmail, and the one man he truly hates. But how do you tackle a foe who knows the personal weakness of every person of importance in the Western world?

This contemporary re-imagining of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic, co-created by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen), also stars Rupert Graves (The White Queen) as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs (Till Death Us Do Part) as Mrs Hudson, Amanda Abbington (Mr. Selfridge) as Mary Morstan, Louise Brealey (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) as Molly Hooper, and Mark Gatiss as Mycroft Holmes.

Bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD include:

“The Fall”
“Fans, Villains & Speculation: The Legacy of Sherlock Holmes”
“Shooting Sherlock”
