Things haven’t been easy for Maxie (Kirsten Storms) on General Hospital. She had to pretend her baby girl was stolen from her as she placed her into the care of Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) to ensure Peter (Wes Ramsey) wouldn’t get near her.
Over the last few weeks, Maxie has been raising red flags with the attention she has shown Bailey (the name Brook Lynn gave the baby) while at the Quartermaine mansion. Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Monica (Leslie Charleson) have both voiced their concerns.
Now that Brook Lynn has worked out a way for Maxie to see Bailey, it looks like the distraught blonde needs some time away for a while.
Maxie wants to leave Port Charles
In the General Hospital preview video, Maxie tells Brook Lynn she needs to leave Port Charles. What leads up to the moment wasn’t made clear, but this appears to be how she will be taken off-screen for a few weeks.
Peter’s death has been dragged out for weeks already. He hasn’t been found, and his body remains in the closed-off lab that is only accessible from the roof. Finn (Michael Easton) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) cleaned up the mess after the doctor pushed the villain down the flight of stairs.
Now, Maxie needs time away, but will she work on herself while worrying about her baby girl?
Why is Kirsten Storms taking time off from General Hospital?
A few weeks ago, Kirsten Storms revealed that she had brain surgery. It came as a shock to followers, but she had been good about keeping her private life away from the public. Kirsten felt she needed to update fans, and it was cool to see her real-life bestie, Emme Rylan (Lulu Spencer), pick her up and take care of her after such an operation.
There was some speculation about what would happen to Maxie on General Hospital as she is in the middle of one of the hottest storylines right now. Would there be a recast like the ABC soap has used in the past, or would she be put on hiatus briefly?
As Kirsten Storms continues to recover, she has been updating fans on her Instagram page. It is unclear how long Maxie will be gone or how the writers will choose to have her exit but the timing for when she went into surgery fits with her announcement about leaving Port Charles.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
