General Hospital has thrown viewers a curveball when it comes to Oscar Nero’s (Garren Stitt) cancer. Last fall everyone was wondering what would happen to the teen who was fighting an inoperable brain tumor, and now they are wondering how he could possibly survive.
Despite breaking up with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to spare her heartbreak, Oscar rekindled his romance with her when she found out the truth about his tumor. She convinced him to go ahead with the treatment trial, and today the results were given to Drew (Billy Miller ) and Kim (Tamara Braun).
Did the trial treatment help Oscar?
Today’s episode of General Hospital revealed that the trial did not help Oscar’s treatment. The tumor remains the same and when Terry (Cassandra James) delivered the news to his parents, there was not a dry eye in the room.
Kim knows that this means that Oscar is destined to die with no other options available. The tumor is intertwined with blood vessels and removal is not possible. At this point, it looks like death is the next thing the family will have to face.
How long will this play out?
Right now, it is unclear how long Oscar will remain on the canvas. There has been no announcement of new projects or an exit confirmation from Garren Stitt or General Hospital. In the beginning, it was said that Oscar’s life could go on for years or months — it is all dependent on how fast the cancer moves and the tumor grows.
With the Ryan Chamberlain storyline still needing resolution, General Hospital viewers are speculating that this may press on through at least May sweeps. Death certainly draws in viewership, but are the writers ready for the impact Oscar’s death will have on the main characters?
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
