The Young and the Restless fans were dealt a blow with a short week of the hit CBS soap.

It’s that time of year again when Y&R gets preempted for holiday programming.

Honestly, we shouldn’t be surprised at the preemptions.

However, every year, viewers are not happy when the hit daytime drama is MIA around this time.

November sweeps have wrapped up, and with the short week of new episodes, there are many questions going into December.

Let’s take a look at what’s going on with the CBS show.

Why isn’t The Young and the Restless on today?

The Young and the Restless is preempted today, Thursday, November 28, for CBS’ annual Thanksgiving coverage of NFL football. On Friday, Y&R won’t air again because CBS will air college football all day.

Yes, sports are preempting the daytime drama for the rest of the week. That means new episodes of Y&R won’t return until Monday, December 2, as the show prepares to send off 2024 with a bang.

More preemptions are coming for the holiday season and New Year, but never fear—plenty of new episodes will keep viewers entertained before that time comes.

What can Y&R fans expect when the show is back?

The aftermath of the accident will be front and center, especially now that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) remembers seeing truck headlights before the crash. There’s also the fact that Nick (Joshua Morrow) knows something isn’t right because of Sharon’s (Sharon Case) missing phone.

Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian (Ray Wise) are behind it, and that’s just the beginning of what these two have in store for Genoa City.

Meanwhile, the fallout of Jill (Jess Walton) selling Victor (Eric Braeden) Chancellor-Abbott, will see Billy (Jason Thompson) out for revenge. Billy has enlisted Sally’s (Courtney Hope) help, which will be interesting.

Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) face the music for their actions, and Kyle (Michael Mealor) isn’t even close to forgiving them.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, head writer Josh Griffith has big things in store for the rest of the year, and fans won’t want to miss a moment.

We know that, with Ian and Jordan thrown into the mix, terror is coming to Genoa City this holiday season.

In other Y&R news, Eric Braeden has responded to those pesky rumors that he’s leaving the show as Victor, and you can see what he said here.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
