The Chicago Med cast will feature a new face on Wednesday night, as Steven Weber takes on the role of Dr. Dean Archer.
This was an interesting choice by the writers and producers at Chicago Med, with the character already hinted at several times during Season 6 of the show.
When Dr. Ethan Choi was meeting with Dr. Charles about the job’s stress, Ethan spoke about a former commanding officer who had helped him before. And that’s where Dean comes into play, as this is someone directly from Ethan’s past.
Will Dean’s introduction to the ED help Ethan better cope with all the stress he has placed on himself with this new job? It certainly can’t get worse than when Ethan felt he needed to return to work on the same day that he had gallbladder surgery.
That didn’t go well when he passed out on the ED floor.
Steven Weber to appear in Season 6, Episode 8
The synopsis for the episode titled Fathers and Mothers, Daughters and Sons reads as follows: “Ethan hires an old Navy colleague to join him in the ED; A final custody hearing threatens to separate Charles and his daughter; Maggie must make a choice that will change Auggie’s life.”
Dr. Dean Archer is a Navy colleague who is joining the show, and he is played by long-timer actor Steven Weber.
For years, Weber was seen as Brian Michael Hackett on the hit sitcom Wings. Weber also appeared in the made-for-TV adaptation of Stephen King’s, The Shining.
The film was pretty good, but it wasn’t quite as impressive as the Jack Nicholson version.
We might get to see Weber as part of the Chicago Med cast for a while, and that could be a really good thing, as he is the type of actor who can do well in comedic or dramatic situations.
Much more to come on Chicago Med Season 6
There are several episodes still left to air this season, and that means a lot of excitement could be coming up.
It appears that we are going to get to see some drama between Dr. Crockett Marcel and Dr. Will Halstead based on the promo for Episode 8. They may soon battle for the affections of Dr. Natalie Manning.
The great news is that all three One Chicago shows have been renewed for fall 2021, so the show could work toward a very exciting cliffhanger for the Season 6 finale this May as well.
Buckle up, it’s going to be a fun ride to the end of the season.
Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
