The Masked Singer is a brand new singing competition that will premiere tonight on FOX. The premise of the show is interesting and different than American Idol and The Voice. In fact, the competitors are famous celebrities who will compete against one another and the judges have to guess who is behind the mask.
The judges are Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke. The host of the show is Nick Cannon.
Even though the show is called The Masked Singer, the celebrities are actually in full costume to hide who they are. The first six celebrities who will compete tonight are decked out in peacock, hippo, monster, unicorn, deer and lion costumes.
During tonight’s premiere episode, viewers will be introduced to six competitors, but the press release from FOX reveals that there are 12 celebrities in total competing for the win. While we don’t know who is behind the masks, we have been given several clues.
Combined, the 12 celebrities have 65 Grammy nominations, 16 multi-Platinum albums, and 16 Emmy nominations. They also have nine Broadway shows, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles.

That means the show will have singers, who actually know how to sing, actors who may know how to sing, and athletes who may or may not know how to sing.
Viewers are welcome to guess along to see if they can guess who is behind the masks. It’s important to know that it isn’t just professional singers and performers, who are competing. You’ll find NFL players, actors, Broadway stars and famous faces from Hollywood.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesday, January 2, at 9/8c on FOX. You can catch a special encore presentation of the first episode on Saturday, January 5 at 9/8c on FOX.
