Episode 22 of The Walking Dead saw the farce of a trial involving Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt). Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) had decided he was the one to take the blame for everything going down in the Commonwealth that she disagreed with.
Because of this, a trial was set, and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) was supposed to prosecute him but twisted things publically so she could defend him. It still didn’t end well, though, and Eugene was condemned to death.
Luckily, Mercer (Michael James Shaw) stepped in at the last minute and decided he couldn’t let an innocent man die.
Along with this, those characters who the Commonwealth had sent off to a life of hard labor continued to struggle with their new existence and tried to work out how they could escape.
Luckily, some characters had managed to escape confinement and were actively working on a plan.
Now, let’s take a look forward and see what we can expect in the penultimate episode of The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead Episode 23 synopsis
According to IMDb, the title of Episode 23 is Family.
Family has been the common thread for the third part of Season 11 — as well as for the entire show in general — so it comes as no surprise that the penultimate episode of the entire series will focus on this theme.
Currently, no official synopsis for this installment has been released, although Fansided suggests that a swarm is incoming.
And this is certainly something that is explored in the trailer.
The Walking Dead trailer released for Episode 23
The trailer for Episode 23 of The Walking Dead reveals that a horde of the undead is heading for the Commonwealth.
In fact, one shot featuring Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Eugene suggests that the vast community will be compromised by the undead as these characters are shown shooting at them potentially from inside the Commonwealth.
Along with this, Negan suggests it might be time to take Pamela out.
“None of us are safe as long as she’s still breathing,” Negan says at the clip’s start.
Episode 22 saw Mercer siding with Eugene, and the implication is that he will help him escape. This certainly seems to be the case in Episode 23 as Mercer starts looking for troops in his army that will be happy to bring Pamela down.
Eugene is not only seen shooting at walkers with Ezekiel, but he is shown peering through a peephole at the start of the clip while Pamela declares that she wants “a door-to-door search.”
“If he’s found, shoot him on sight,” Pamela adds.
All in all, it looks like Episode 23 of The Walking Dead will be filled with action from start to finish.
The Walking Dead airs every Sunday night at 9/8c on AMC.
