The Walking Dead spoilers are slowing leaking about the November 4 episode. It’s Rick Grimes’ final episode, with actor Andrew Lincoln leaving the show. As such, quite a bit of the information about this final episode is getting showcased in previews and on social media.
AMC also released a sneak peek about the episode entitled What Comes After, where Michonne and Maggie face off in front of Negan’s cell. It is the culmination of some drama that has been brewing for a few episodes now, with Maggie intent to kill Negan after he murdered her husband, Glenn.
Season 9 The Walking Dead spoilers
From the video below, shared by AMC, it appears that the next episode is going to mix action with flashbacks and hallucinations. At the end of the October 28 episode, Rick and Daryl have a brief fight before they are confronted by a herd of walkers. As Rick tries to lead them away, he encounters a second one, which spooks his horse. Rick ends up on rebar.
When the episode faded out, Rick Grimes was in a lot of peril. Walkers were approaching from all sides and he was stuck to a concrete slab, impaled by rebar. From the previews for the next episode, it appears that he is able to free himself, but that he will also be seeing people from his past. That includes Hershel Greene (played by Scott Wilson) and Shane Walsh (played by Jon Bernthal).
How does Rick Grimes die on The Walking Dead?
There are a number of ways that Andrew Lincoln’s character could die during the November 4 episode. One of the popular theories getting shared on social media is that Rick Grimes dies while stuck to that rebar. The theory is that most of the episode takes place in his mind, only to reveal later that he never got off that rebar.
There are a lot of hints in the preview for Rick Grimes’ final episode that indicate he is hallucinating the whole time. While leading the walkers, Rick is shown walking back into Atlanta, which isn’t really possible at this point of the story. He is also shown interacting with characters that have been dead for a while and also on a pile of dead bodies that includes one character still alive on the show (Jesus).
