Watchmen HBO cast information now includes the name Don Johnson — after the former Miami Vice star was revealed to be featuring in the new TV show based on the graphic novel.
New photos leaked from the set show that Johnson will play a policeman in the series. His exact role is still shrouded in mystery.
There are a lot of questions about what the Watchmen HBO show will actually entail. Even the IMDb page for the series simply states that it is “based on the comic-book”. The cast of Watchmen includes Jamal Chambers, Louis Gossett Jr., Regina King, and now Don Johnson.
Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby), Andrew Howard (Limitless, Taken 3), and Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Though, Minority Report) also show up on the Watchmen IMDb page. The problem for fans, though, is that no character names have been provided with the Watchmen cast information.
More names are also expected to join the Watchmen HBO cast as the production team starts removing some of the secrecy surrounding the project.

The website with the copyrighted Don Johnson Watchmen photos hasn’t shared them on social media yet. But the description provided with them is that it appears Johnson plays a veteran policeman in charge of a detail. This makes it possible that he could have a role in a police strike which takes part in the original source material.
The Watchmen HBO TV show will be separate from the 2009 film made by Zack Snyder. The movie, which was also based on the graphic novel, made just over $107 million at the U.S. box office. It wasn’t a hit by any means but continues to receive critical acclaim for what it did within the genre.
Could the Watchmen series come after the events depicted in the film? That would certainly be an interesting continuation, even though it might frustrate some fans who had been hoping to see original characters. Some of those characters died in the Watchmen movie, so an epilogue of the film might just make sense.
The Watchmen HBO series should premiere in 2019.
