Riverdale Season 4, Episode 17 is on fans’ minds now that the drama is on hiatus.
There are a lot of questions regarding the television industry due to coronavirus. Last week, Riverdale announced it was shutting down production, but did not share for how long.
Most of the industry has halted production, leaving a lot of uncertainly with primetime shows. Some shows will simply end the season with the number of episodes already filmed when production stopped. Others are working to find a way to shoot the remaining episodes.
Riverdale on hiatus
Riverdale fans learned the show had stopped production and was also taking a hiatus from airing new episodes on The CW at the same time. It was a pure coincidence that the news was dropped simultaneously.
Two separate things are happening with Riverdale — the unplanned production shutdown and the planned on-screen hiatus.
At the end of Riverdale Season 4, Episode 16, fans learned that the show would be taking a break for a few weeks before returning with new episodes. It is not unusual for television shows to take a break in March and then come back with new episodes in April. The format allows television shows to then air new episodes during May sweeps.
Since production was halted, Riverdale may not have enough episodes in the can to make it to May sweeps. Last week. KJ Apa (Archie Andrews) stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and said that The CW drama had three more episodes to film in the season.
New episodes of Riverdale on The CW
It hasn’t even been one week, and fans are already missing Archie, Betty (Lili Reinhart), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and Veronica (Camila Mendes). The current season of Riverdale has taken fans on one wild ride.
Senior year has been anything but easy for the group, and viewers can’t wait to find out what happens next. The good news is there are only a few weeks without The CW drama. Riverdale Season 4, Episode 17 will air on Wednesday, April 8. It is the annual musical episode, too, so viewers are in for a real treat.
The bad news is that there are likely fewer than five episodes left in the current season. Based on the episode count for previous season’s there are 22 episodes in Season 4. If there were three left to film before the shutdown, fans should be prepared for only three new episodes when Riverdale returns in April.
Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
