Actress Marla Gibbs played the role of Miss Simpson on the latest episode of The Neighborhood. When Dave (played by Max Greenfield) convinces Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) to have a yard sale, a lot of hilarity ensues.
Miss Simpson enters the scene as a yard sale customer who looks to get a bargain and ends up paying just $1 for an object. Later, Calvin tries to get it back, enlisting the help of Dave to make it happen.
This was Episode 14 of the inaugural season for the show and it is the first time that Gibbs has appeared on the show as a guest star. Maybe she will return due to the early fan responses from this episode.
Who plays Miss Simpson on The Neighborhood cast?
Marla Gibbs is best known for her role as Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons. She has acted for years, bringing a lot of humor to films and television along the way. It was a good choice to bring her on the show and she could be a nice recurring character if the show goes in that direction.
When the character of Miss Simpson tries to purchase a porcelain angel from the yard sale, it leads to a funny negotiation between herself and Calvin. It seems like an innocuous purchase until Dave runs out with a price guide showing that the statue Miss Simpson bought is worth $1,500.
This is where the pursuit of getting back the angel begins, with Dave sure that the woman didn’t know the value of the statue and Calvin dreading having to track it down.
Additional characters appearing in the episode called “Welcome to the Yard Sale” are Gemma (Beth Behrs), Tina (Tichina Arnold), Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney), Marty (Marcel Spears), and Grover (Hank Greenspan).
The Neighborhood airs Monday nights at 8/7c on CBS.
