On the most recent episode of Love & Hip Hop: Miami, Jessie Woo attended Tarana Burke’s panel after Trina invited a few of the women to join her. It was a heavy moment for the VH1 series.
During the panel, Jessie started to break down. The weight of her own sexual assault was too much and as Burke and the other women spoke about the #MeToo movement and just the sheer number of rape and sexual assault victims, she couldn’t hold back.
“Every person in this room understands,” Tarana told Jessie as the women around them echoed, “We believe you.”
“You’re in the right space. This is what safety looks like,” Tarana comforted the Love & Hip Hop star.
When given the opportunity to speak, Jessie Woo opened up about her own experience.
“I was raped,” Jessie told the room as everyone, including viewers, got emotional. “By someone in the music industry. My question is…that person is living an abundant life…touring, working with artists I would love to work with.”
Breaking down in tears, she added: “You know, how do I live with that?”
