Brian from Chicago Fire was referenced during the episode on Wednesday night. The episode was called Seeing Is Believing, and it mainly dealt with the company where a warehouse fire took place during the Season 8 premiere.
It was during that fire that Brian Zvonecek of Firehouse 51 lost his life. While a few people on the show referred to him as Brian, most of the cast and fans of the show refer to him by his nickname, Otis.
Brian (Otis) was a character on Chicago Fire since Season 1, but he didn’t survive the first episode of the new season.
Losing him as a member of the cast has been difficult for viewers, and the writers have done an excellent job of showing how huge his impact was to the rest of the show as well.
With a memorial dedicated to Brian right outside the firehouse, it is clear that this is something that could get referenced in future seasons of the show. That is very likely to also happen during the next episode.

Fall finale surprise on Chicago Fire
For the fall finale, actress Monica Raymund is returning as Gabby Dawson. She will likely pay her respects to Brian at the firehouse, which should lead to another touching moment.
Gabby was also a character on the show for most of its run, but she left to go help in Puerto Rico.
While the addition to the Chicago Fire cast of Alberto Rosende as Blake Gallo has been fun and that character is getting fleshed out in recent episodes, the show still isn’t the same without actor Yuri Sardarov on it.
Sometimes, when a character leaves a show, the writers overdo it when paying homage to them. That has not been the case for Brian.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on NBC.
