Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks hits some wicked water

Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks – freak waves over the bow can cause havoc

On this episode of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks the bluefin season gets going and the sea reminds everyone who is boss.

Fishin’ Frenzy and Hot Tuna pickup a distress signal from another tuna boat, which is taking on water.

“Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!” blasts over the radio.

“The boat is filling with water and I ain’t gonna be able to stop it!”

The boat has hit the sandbar and has started to roll over, they can’t steer and are taking on water.

Hot Tuna arrives on the scene while Fishin’ Frenzy radios the Coast Guard.

The crew jump across to Hot Tuna, but not before they go back for their reels.

Risky Business has also suffered at the hands of the sea when two freak waves hit the boat and nearly ripped parts of it right off the hull. With the tower and roof torn whilst the boat was trying to cross the bar.

The news gets the crew on Hot Tuna talking with deckhand Mike saying: “If you go out there and get caught in a bad situation, it’s gonna slap you in the face real quick.”

Will they cross the bar and head out into the Atlantic?

Catch Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks Mondays 9 PM on National Geographic.
