Lady Gaga brings a queen to tears on RuPaul’s Drag Race

Lady Gaga sharing her experience with the drag queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race

The new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race kicks off with an emotional guest appearance from Lady Gaga.

Season 9 sees the series move to VH1 from TV’s biggest gay network Logo, with the premiere hosting Gaga as the VIP guest.

During it drag queen Eureka, a huge fan of Gaga, tells her how much she means to her.

Breaking down in tears, she says: “I have been the closest to death and you have pulled me out of it, and you don’t even realise what you do for people — how much you inspire people like me and all of us, and I just wanna tell you you’re so amazing.”

Lady Gaga is obviously moved. She sits down with Eureka and hugs her to comfort her.

Eureka adds: “You allow us to be who we are…thank you.”

Speaking to the group, Lady Gaga tells them: “Drag has been an opportunity for me to leave myself…when I didn’t wanna be me…[I] felt so completely out of place when I was in high school. Drag has just been part of my life for the longest time. It’s just really an honor for me to be here, to be with you.”

Lady Gaga reveals that she has been a fan of the show for a long time and was nervous about meeting the drag queens as she wasn’t sure her outfit would be impressive enough.

In an interview with Brice Sander on ET, RuPaul tells us what to expect from the show in the coming weeks.

He says: “We get the biggest stars and the greatest fans of our show, people [who] really understand what it’s like to be a drag queen. And I’m not just talkin’, you know, pussycat wig and a pair of cha-cha heels.”

This season of the show promises to be amazing, with guest appearances from the likes of Kesha, Tori Spelling and Lisa Kudrow.

RuPaul’s Drag Race airs Fridays at 8/7c on VH1.
